PROFILE
Richard Sambells is a creative individual with a passion in film/video creation with over 15 years of related experience. Writing of feature-length film scripts, graduating from the Vancouver Film School, production and editing has allowed Richard to appreciate all aspects of the visual spectrum. With an ability to visualize ‘frame-by-frame’ development of the visual arts Richard has been able to apply this skill to include commercial messages, sports events and employee safety/instructor videos. As a contractor, he has proven to be a valuable addition to corporate teams, meeting very short schedules with quality product. Richard is a creative, well-organised individual with excellent time management skills and applies initiative to achieve high personal standards. He is enthusiastic, approachable and possesses a very positive attitude with a mixture of humour, generating easy interaction within all teams. Richard has a strong ability to understand the ‘full picture’ and condense the visual information to the efficient conveyance of the key message, whatever it may be.

- Edited Video slideshow for Children of Mother Earth Orphanage in India to bring awareness to the positive influence it has had in shaping the live of youth through education and leadership.
- Shot, Directed and Edited Documentary ‘Sapper Sambells’ following a family’s journey into the Canadian wilderness to pay tribute to their relative who gave his life in WWII
- Offline edits of Panago Pizza commercials for Mercer Creative Group.
- Produced and directed a dramatic example of the effects of impaired driving made for Mothers Against Drunk Driving
- Edited several documentaries for Journeyman Film Company about LNG Canada’s proposed Liquid Natural Gas site in Kitimat, BC and its impact on the environment and people.

WorkSafeBC, A/V Department – Video Editor, May 2008 – Present
Responsible for editing a variety of productions from interviews to short dramatic events as well as undertaking various production activities and including the role as assistant director.
- Editing video projects with WorkSafeBC messaging using Final Cut Studio.
- Creating motion graphics and templates for title screen, low thirds and info graphics.
- Dealing with client needs and request as they arise often with short deadlines.
- Importing, transcoding and outputting different video formats per client request ensuring proper function regardless of computer platform.
- DVD disc authoring for clients including title and menu pages.
- Working closely with producers and clients in creating dramatic and documentary videos while maintaining the WorkSafeBC brand and messaging.
